Art Deco – from the roaring 20’s to the retro-vintage 20-teens:
The Jeweled Wedding Dress Neckline
There was a time, many centuries ago, when a wedding was about much more than the couple being married. Often times a wedding ceremony was about the joining of families, businesses, land – politics over love. Particularly in regard to royalty and high society. A concept, which is so removed from today, as it should be. I digress…
A bride, back then, was to be the representation of her family’s status; therefore she must be dressed as lavishly as possible, and must only step into the finest of lighting. This meant the dress had to be more than exceptional; never did I realize how much power was in the wedding gown – literally making or breaking possible partnerships between countries. This is why we raise up the wedding dress, place it on that pedestal and start shopping; we have a legacy to uphold!
Now that we have that bit of context, and are experts on why we ‘obsess the dress’, lets get down to it:

One of this season’s hottest dress trends is the Jeweled Wedding Dress Neckline:
These fbulously ornate featured dresses are Art Deco inspired. This was a visual arts design style that originated in France and made its way to the states in the 1920’s (think The Great Gatsby).
Surface embellishment, symmetry, glamour, elegance, and opulence are perhaps just a few adjectives to define the Art Deco movement – as referenced in Esme, by Jenny Packham. This gown cascades over the figure, creating a semi-fitted silhouette, while lavishly symmetrical embellishments appear to be dancing with every movement.
A bride-to-be wearing this dress is sure to shine, as rhinestones, crystals and diamonds – Oh my! – Capture and reflect every beam of light possible. Creating a goddess-like presence.
Not only do we see extravagant surface embellishment in the wedding gowns, with a particular focus on the neckline, it is also in the accompanying accessories:
